11/18/2024 - The Portals and Settings Update: World Editor 0.1.1
Hello again!
After a nice vacation (where I took my dev machine with me), I am excited to share additional updates to the World Editor with you all!
A feature that I have always been inspired by in world editor-like apps is the ability to build a portal between two coordinates. If you move into position (x,y), then you are teleported to position (g,h). In many similar apps I have used before, this was never abstracted to the editor level - it was always something that required manual coding in that systems tools. As is my goal with this project, I want to abstract away the tedious parts of building a world and focus on the fun.
And so with this update, I am pleased to present Portals!
By selecting the 'Create' button in the portals section, you can add a portal between two positions in your world. A green space indicates an entry point, and a red space indicates the exit point. You might notice when playing around with this feature that sometimes a portal space can turn blue. Blue indicates the space is bidirectional - it is both an entry and exit position of a portal. So go, build portals to spaces across your world and let imagination guide you!
